As a small business owner and community leader, Jimmy Flannigan is truly passionate about fixing the problems we face. For the last decade he's worked across Austin, fighting for small businesses, streamlined city government, and traffic solutions. As your city council member, Jimmy continues to be a fearless advocate and remains focused on bringing results to District 6.

Jimmy has lived in Northwest Austin for 20 years, having moved into the area while he was still a student at the University of Texas. While completing his degree, he started a small business building websites for student organizations. His experiences as a small business owner would lead him to become involved in a lifetime of advocacy, starting first with helping small and local businesses get started, create jobs, and navigate City Hall, and then expanding into work on traffic solutions and raising the level of civic engagement in Northwest Austin.

Jimmy brings decades of service and leadership on city issues as former president of the Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce, member of the Austin Chamber’s Transportation Committee, and co-founder and sole organizer of the Northwest Austin Coalition. As a council member, he serves as Chair of the CAPCOG Economic Development board, Chair of the Council's Judicial Committee (expanded to the Public Safety Committee in June 2020), Chair of the Community Advancement Network, Vice Chair of the Council's Mobility Committee, a member of the Council's Audit & Finance Committee, on the executive committee of CAPCOG, and on the board of CAMPO, Hate Crimes Task Force, and Pecan Street Project. He believes his strong leadership style and commitment to results over ideology resonates with voters like you across District 6.
